Ugg Boots fined for not being Australian made

THE manufacturer of Ugg Boots has been fined for claiming the Chinese-made sheepskin boots were made in the Australian Capital Territory.

Kingdom Groups International, the owner of Ugg, was fined $10,800 by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for making a false or misleading representation on its website about the country of origin of its footwear branded UGG Aries Sheepskin Australia.

The ACCC said statements on the website gave "consumers the impression that a product was made in Australia when it was not".

The investigation was launched following an Australian Made Campaign complaint.
