Sonny Bill Williams back to the scene of the tackle

NRL: The last time Sonny Bill Williams played at Hunter Stadium, he was sent off for a high tackle on club legend Andrew Johns in 2007.

Yesterday, he returned in more memorable circumstances, scoring a try, running for 113m and making 24 tackles - he was also placed on report for a high shot on Willie Mason.

After threatening the Knights' line all day, Williams was finally rewarded with a try in the 78th minute.

Four minutes earlier, Boyd Cordner sealed the game for the Roosters, crossing thanks to a well-timed James Maloney pass.

The visitors led 12-6 at halftime, with Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Michael Jennings scoring.
