Italy annihilated in America's Cup race against NZ

IF the first three single boat "races" were farcical, the first genuine contest of the America's Cup challenger series off San Francisco was a complete anti-climax.

Italy's Luna Rossa may have been back in the water after a successful protest against last-minute changes to boat design rules, but it may as well not have been - beaten by more than five minutes by Team New Zealand.

The Kiwis look certain to win the right to take on Oracle in the America's Cup in September.
