Dream of riding around Australia coming true
FOR the past 10 years, Martin Barrett has dreamed of cycling his way around Australia.
But a busy work life as CEO of Wide Bay Australia and family commitments has delayed his start on achieving his lifelong dream - until now.
Mr Barrett was among the attendees of the NewsMail's Link Lunches event at Across the Waves yesterday, who walked out afterwards with a renewed sense of motivation and inspiration after hearing from author of 100 Things, Sebastian Terry.
For the past four years, Mr Terry has dedicated his life to not only ticking off 100 things on his bucket list, but also helping others achieve their dreams, including Mr Barrett.
"He's inspired me to do a charity bike ride around Tasmania," Mr Barrett said.
"I'm going to sign up and I'm going to do it."
This commitment and "go-getter" attitude was exactly what Mr Terry hoped people would walk away from his talk with.
"We are so powerful as individuals," he said.
"But there are so many things out of our control that we have to be open to.
"You're never going to know what's around the corner unless you get to the corner."
The next Link Lunches event will feature sporting great Leigh Matthews in February.
