Bookies give the odds for Abbott surviving the spill

IF Tony Abbott likes a punt he should probably back himself to keep Australia's top job.

An online bookmaker says the prime minister is odds on to keep his role.

The betting firm has Mr Abbott at $1.65 to still be PM after today's big meeting.

It has odds of $1.80 that the spill motion will be defeated and $1.90 that it will go through.

If a leadership ballot goes ahead Malcolm Turnbull is the $1.36 favourite to win, Julie Bishop is the $3.75 second favourite and Tony Abbott is sitting on $6.50. - APN NEWSDESK
