Boiling an egg too tough? 'Dippy' solution dumbs it down

HAVE we actually discovered the best thing since sliced bread?

A new "instant" boiled egg is making headlines around the world, offering diners the chance to make the perfect soft and runny feed with water from the kettle.

A YouTube video posted by touts the wonders of the Pork Farms Dippy Egg, which serves up redemption for those who "struggle to achieve a runny yolk when boiling an egg".

"The real innovation about this product is that it is simply a whole, pasteurised egg, still in its shell. It's just been pre-cooked in a very special way," the video host informs us.

The egg simply needs to be reheated, via the addition of boiling water from the kettle and being left covered for five minutes.

The inventor of the concept, Pork Farms, sent The Grocer a "prototype" for testing.
