400kW LSA V8 engines for new HSVs
HOT on the heels of the new Commodore VFII reveal last week, HSV has announced its upgraded GEN-F2 range.
Revisions over the outgoing GEN-F model include fitment of the 400kW/671Nm 6.2-litre supercharged LSA V8 engine (used in the current hero model GTS) to the ClubSport R8, ClubSport R8 Tourer, Maloo R8 and Senator Signature models.
Cars receiving the new LSA powerplant also receive revised suspension, while the whole range will have revised front and rear fascias, new contoured side skirts, new bonnet vents and two new colour options. The GTS, Maloo and ClubSport models also receive new 20-inch alloy wheels to help identify the cars as GEN-F2.
The 340kW LS3 engine will continue to be available in the luxury long-wheel-base Grange, and in both Maloo R8 and ClubSport R8, with the latter two models made available in early 2016. HSV will concentrate on LSA model production through this initial launch phase.
Production of the GEN-F2 range - which will be based on the new Commodore VFII - will begin early next month, with completed vehicles due to arrive in HSV showrooms later in October.
The introduction of the LSA V8 engine to the bulk of the range has seen a bump up in prices.
The 2016 GEN-F2 range (before the LS3-powered models arrive) start at $76,990 for a six-speed manual Maloo R8 LSA, while you'll need $80,990 for a manual ClubSport R8 LSA and $95,990 for a GTS with three pedals, all before on-roads.
