More than 31,000 hits on tourism site

A SOCIAL media marketing campaign promoting  the Fraser Coast's world-class natural attractions and adventure experiences to key domestic markets during summer has proved a winner for the region.

Tourism portfolio councillor Stuart Taylor said fishing was the undisputed star of the Guaranteed Natural Experiences Summer Campaign created by Fraser Coast Opportunities and Tourism and Events Queensland, which followed on from the successful Whale Campaign.

He said the Fraser Coast brand had continued from strength to strength as a result of the two campaigns.

"The expansion into the recreational and competitive fishing pillar has been the star of the marketing campaign run over summer across both intrastate and interstate markets," Cr Taylor said.

The campaign used the latest in precision digital marketing tools to accurately identify and target markets in Sydney and Melbourne in particular.

"This has helped position the Fraser Coast brand as a hot spot for adventure and in particular, igniting interest towards the fishing sector in this region," he said.

"The fishing pillar alone contributed to 82% of total clicks across both the Sydney and Melbourne markets.

"This is an incredibly popular area of interest and we are focused on building the region's reputation as a must-visit destination for fishing enthusiasts.

"By dedicating a more concentrated strategy towards the expansion in the fishing industry and relevant partnerships could take this brand message to the next level.

Acting marketing manager Brad Nardi said the campaign drove more than 31,000 unique visitors to the visitfrasercoast.com website during the campaign period.

"This far eclipsed the initial campaign target of around 5000 unique visitors," he said.

"It also generated an additional 4368 new followers on the Visit Fraser Coast Facebook taking the total number of followers to the region's key social media site to almost 11,000 followers."
