Discount airline Jetstar has launched its annual Christmas sale with flights for as little as $49 up for grabs on domestic routes.

Some of the most popular summer destinations, such as Hawaii, Bali and the Gold Coast, have also been heavily discounted.

Sale fares include Sydney-Honolulu from $259, Perth to Bali (Denpasar) from $109 and Melbourne-Gold Coast from $59. Domestic flights on sale for selected dates in 2017 include Melbourne-Sydney, Adelaide-Melbourne and Brisbane-Sydney from $49.

The sale is celebrating almost 400 extra flights between now and the end of January, reported.

Availabilities vary for different fares, with seats on offer from January to June 2017.

The prices are similar to Jetstar's most recent sales, such as its 48-hour sale in October.

Last month it also offered free return fares on some routes.
