Born and bred local Clinton Ludlow has taken over the reins as the new president of the Brunswick Heads Chamber of Commerce.

Clinton, from the Commonwealth Bank in Brunswick Heads, found himself both a first-time chamber member and vice-president last year, and has declared himself ‘very happy’ to take on the job as president.

“It’s going to be a pretty busy year,” he said, “and there are a couple of projects I’d like to see finished.”

One of those projects is the Brunswick Skatepark, a 10-year saga that had been a particular baby of outgoing president Matthew Denehy, stepping down after two memorable years.

Addressing the AGM at Sandbar in Brunswick Heads, Matthew’s final message to the business community was one of thanks to the ‘huge numbers’ of members of the various sub-committees, noting that 2009 was the busiest year in the chamber’s 12-year history, and winning the Business Enterprise Award as the best business organisation in Regional NSW last November was a very special moment for the chamber.

And with Brunswick Heads recently finding itself in the media spotlight for its enviable village atmosphere, Matthew encouraged everyone to show how much they cared about the town by supporting the popular Simple Pleasures campaign.

Attractive

Clinton Ludlow named the Tweed Street makeover as the other project that he would like to see finished during his time in office, and there will also be plenty of smaller projects on the boil to keep everyone busy.

“I’m very much still on a learning curve,” said Clinton, “but obviously I have ideas of my own of how to make Brunswick Heads more attractive.”

After the official business, members and guests went on to enjoy the warm summer air on Sandbar’s balcony, celebrating the past successful year and looking forward to many more to come.
