P & C rejects claims of bullying at school

Mullumbimby High School P and C Association has thrown its support behind principal, Ian Graham, and has rejected claims of a culture of bullying at the school.

“As a parent, I would like to state that media reports of a culture of violence and bullying are not reflective of the actual school culture at Mullumbimby High School,” association president Mark Collinson said.

“Friday’s incident is very rare, and is certainly not typical of the school culture.

“We are all shocked, and extremely saddened by the events of Friday 28th August.

“It is important that we stick together as a broader community and support our school and its leadership as well as its staff and students.”

Mr Collinson said the incident was a great tragedy, and the P & C would endeavour to support the family and the broader community in whatever way it could.

“On behalf of the P & C, I would like to extend my condolences to Jai’s family.

“The incident has touched the entire community,” he said.

“The P & C also gives full support to the principal of Mullumbimby High School, its leadership team, and the rest of the staff.”
