Saying no to Japan’s ‘scientific’ whaling

Whale activist Dean Jefferys joined forces with Rob Dalton from Whale Watching Byron Bay last Friday to stage a protest against Japan’s plans to kill 50 whales

Whale activist Dean Jefferys joined forces with Rob Dalton from Whale Watching Byron Bay last Friday to stage a protest against Japan’s plans to kill 50 humpback whales this coming Antarctic season as part of their ‘scientific’ research program.

With the help of supporters, they unfurled anti-whaling banners at The Pass before taking the protest to the sea.

Both Mr Jefferys and Mr Dalton said they opposed all forms of commercial whaling, including the so-called ‘scientific’ program.

Mr Dalton said the humpback migration was worth millions of dollars to local communities associated with the east coast migration.
