Mullum Giants beat Devils in all grades

RUGBY LEAGUE
Giants v Red Devils

Mullumbimby Giants took the honours in the local NRRRL derby against shire neighbours, Byron Bay Red Devils, at Les Donnelly Field on Sunday.

While the Giants ran out 24-8 winners, the game was much more delicately poised for a lot of the match than the score suggests.

At half-time the Giants led 8-4 and the game could have gone either way.

With about 20 minutes to go, Devils winger Duane Cahill crossed for a try to match an earlier try by the Giants prop, Dan Molenaar, to make it 12-8 to the home side.

It looked like the game would go down to the wire until tries from Mullum’s Glen Godbee and Brett Archibald put the game out of the Devils’ reach.

The Giants made it a clean sweep on the day, winning reserve grade 14-4 and under 18s 42-8.
