IT'S World UFO Day so we decided to look back at a few of the Tweed's past UFO encounters.
Back in July 2010, Vern Vicken and Damien Gundlach saw something strange in the sky while at the Ivory Tavern on the banks of the Tweed River; the two men had photos to back up their claims.
Then came Alex Player in December of 2010, whose claims sent tingles down the spine of reporter Laura Brodnik and yours truly.
Mr Player claimed an Alien had come into his house several times and had disturbing footage of what looked like the creature in his backyard.
Doug Moffett, from UFO Research New South Wales Incorporated, a man with nearly 20 years experience in such phenomena, said Mr Player's footage was inconclusive.
I'm not saying it is not (an alien), but I cannot say what it could be. Even to say it has a humanoid form could be a stretch," Mr Moffett said.
"From the height they say it was you have to think that logically what would a small child be doing outside at that time of night with a flashlight."
Most recently, in March of this year, Tweed Head south resident Rick Whitley was outside his house taking photos on his camera phone and later noticed two unidentified objects in one of the images.
"I was excited to show the family and mates at work," he said.
"About 70% of the people are convinced.
"One fella at work is into that sort of thing and he was impressed,"Mr Whitley said.
Over the years Tweed has had a host of unidentified flying objects and many of the sightings remain unexplained.
