TUCKED away behind the Bangalow Post Office is a little slice of natural beauty.

A rainforest mural created by Italian artist Vanni Mangoni adorns the wall near the newly relocated post office boxes.

Members of the Bangalow community turned out last week for the formal unveiling of the mural.

Vanni was originally contracted by post office owner Nicole Swain to paint the walls a single colour.

But the project began to grow, with Vanni first creating a painting of old sandstock bricks in honour of the old structure.

When Nicole saw some of Vanni's other artwork, she commissioned him to take the mural further, evolving into the rainforest scene complete with waterfall.

"The mural is a reflection of the natural environment, which is where my heart is at the moment," Vanni said.

Ms Swain said the community embraced Vanni as he created the mural.

"It's great to share this with the town," she said. "It celebrates the post office as a community meeting place and that's really what a post office is all about."
