IN A major coup for Football Far North Coast, Eureka's 6th Division men's team is a finalist for Team of the Year at the 2012 Australian Football Awards.

The Grand Final and Minor Premiership winners will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of football royalty Les Murray, past and current World Cup Socceroos, and guest of honour Alessandro Del Piero when they attend next month's black tie gala.

Club president James Mayson said the awards not only recognised elite players but also the amateurs who help grow the game at a grassroots level.

"If these awards are the Mount Everest of Football Federation Australia, then Eureka FC men's 6th grade sits proudly at base camp," he said.
