A PARTY designed to emulate the outrageous houseparty thrown in the film Project X has ended in tragedy, with a teenager dead following gunfire.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of copycat parties have been thrown around the United States attempting to recreate the film's "ultimate party."
Starring a string of previously unknown teenage actors cast from wide casting calls held around the country, the film directed by Nima Nourizadeh and written by Michael Bacall and Matt Drake, sees three teens throw a party similar to the famed gathering of Corey Worthington in Victoria, with social media responsible for a huge turn out that sees the party spiral out of control.
On Wednesday in Houston, life imitated art as word of the party was spread widely on social media, drawing a large gathering to the party's venue, a deserted house surrounded by a field.
ABC News reported between 500 and 1,000 people in attendance.
