WITH a few key players away for last Friday night's clash with Lennox Head, Byron's Summer Youth League coach Jonathan Pierce shook things up a little by running defenders Sam Robson and Nolan Pierce up front.

The combination proved to be devastating, with the experienced backs revelling in their attacking roles right from the kick-off.

A hat-trick for Pierce assured the young Rams a comfortable 5-0 win over their coastal rivals and took Jonathan and his SAE-sponsored squad a step closer to championship honours.

An upset draw for Workers with Ballina on Friday improved Byron's chances for an outright victory.

The ladder is very tight, but wins this Friday against Italo Stars and in the final round against Lismore Thistles will give the Rams an unbeaten - and unbeatable - lead and a third consecutive enscription on the championship trophy.

Head out to North Lismore this Friday evening to witness a game of fast-paced football.
