GOLD Coast teenager Bernard Tomic has stumbled ahead of next week's Wimbledon championship.

After leading 5-2 in the deciding set, Tomic was beaten 4-6 6-3 7-5 by Italian Fabio Fognini in the second round of the AEGON International in Eastbourne.

Better news for the Aussie was that despite being ranked 27 in the world, he has been seeded 20 for Wimbledon which means he gets a softer draw for the first three rounds
