Margie Cummins wins Biggest Loser

BRISBANE'S Margie Cummins has become the third consecutive woman and Queenslander to win The Biggest Loser.

The 34-year-old nearly halved her body weight, losing a whopping 73.2kg over three months, to take out the Loser title and $220,000 grand prize tonight.

Cummins narrowly beat Victoria's Alex Zorzi, who lost 44.68 percent of his body weight compared to her 46.01 percent.

Fellow Brisbane resident Kasey Cheesman came in third place, losing 54kg, and Sydney's Brenda Hunt came in fourth with a loss of 36.67 percent of her body weight.

Cummins said she owed a huge debt to her trainer Michelle Bridges.

Despite Bridges being a trainer on all seven series of The Biggest Loser, Cummins was her first contestants to win the final weigh-in.

"She put a lot of time and effort into me," Cummins said.

"As much as I wanted it for myself, I also wanted it for her as well. I wanted it to reflect the type of trainer she is."

It was a clean sweep for Bridges, with one of her other charges Lydia Hantke winning the $20,000 prize for having the largest weight loss of the eliminated contestants.

Cummins had a few words of wisdom for those who are considering applying for next year's show.

"I definitely think that people should give it a go," she said.

"But when they apply they should realise it's not a walk in the park. The buck stops with you. If you go in there expecting to breeze through it then you're in for a rude shock."
