A SUNSHINE Coast dairy farmer who decided to carve his own future independent of milk giants Pauls and Dairy Farmers has won access to Coles supermarkets across Queensland.

Graham McIntyre is producing 10,000 litres a week under his Lynward Queensland Milk label.

He chose to go independent last year so that he could sell his own milk from his own farm.

"You get good quality milk if your cows are fed right and looked after," Mr McIntyre said.

"The public wants a good quality milk the way it should be."

Mr McIntyre said that if done properly there was no need to reconstitute milk, add anything to it or "standardise" it.

"It was hard going setting up a new company and going out and getting sales," the Dulong farmer said.

"There was a high cost involved but I've achieved it. I've sold as much as I could produce."

Mr McIntyre said Coles came to him because it wanted produce from local growers in its stores.

"Coles want to work with local businesses to give its customers choice," he said.

"We ticked the boxes for how we treated our cows and poddies."

Lynward Queensland Milk can be found at a range of outlets.
