ANTI-DOMESTIC violence group White Ribbon Australia will host a spoken word poetry and solo acoustic song competition from 3-7pm this Sunday at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall.

Local Byron business the Balcony is also getting behind the campaign by flying the group's banner all this week.

Stop Violence Alliance community member Melanie Connell said The Step In, Step Out, Step Up competition was an opportunity for the community to speak out about violence against women and girls.

"White Ribbon is the world's largest male-led movement to end men's violence against women and their campaign aims to create wide-scale awareness about the positive role that men can play in bringing an end to violence against women," she said.

"Many local businesses have supported this event and we have some great prizes up for grabs including a surfboard, skateboard, body board and much more."

To enter the competition go to the Step In, Step out, Step Up Facebook page or email connellmelaniejane73@gmail.com or phone 0466031462.
