Chinese growth meets forecasts

CHINA'S economy grew 7.6 per cent in the year to June according to the official statistical agency.

It is the sixth straight quarter that growth has decelerated, and leaves Chinese gross domestic product expanding at the slowest pace in three years.

The 7.6 per cent growth compares to an 8.1 per cent expansion reported for the year to the end of March.

Economist estimates for China's economic growth in the year to June 30 ranged from 7.3-8 per cent, with 7.7 per cent the median estimate according to a survey by Bloomberg.

China's statistics bureau also released data on industrial production and retail sales, which both also came in a touch lower than the average forecast.
