Bowlo needs $184,000

THE Lennox Head community has been told it needs to raise at least $184,000 to relaunch its bowling club.

Hundreds of people attended a community meeting at the club at the club last week.

Chairman of the working committee Pip Carter said they were also trying to de-amalgamate from the Ramsgate RSL.

Ramsgate's entire board of directors resigned in December last year and an administrator will start on Monday.

Mr Carter said the Lennox bowlo committee would liaise closely with the administrator to work towards de-amalgamation.

A number of fundraising initiatives have been planned, including a Reaching for the Stars campaign, which will involve people making pledges or monthly donations.

Other possible fundraisers include Music Under the Stars at Williams Reserve, a dinner dance and telethon.

The club's first members' meeting will be held on February 6, although a location for the meeting has not yet been decided.

At that meeting, the members will elect the new seven-member committee, including a chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary.

A website has been set up: savelennox bowlsclub.com.au.
