BANGALOW Public School girls' soccer team recently finished third in the NSW PSSA State Soccer Championships.

The competition has been staged over the past four months in seven rounds of knockout matches.

The top four teams finally faced each other at Lake Macquarie earlier this month.

Bangalow Public School teacher Andrea McLean said third place was a major achievement for the team and very exciting for the school.

"Over 370 girls teams started the competition, so to finish third is amazing," said Ms McLean.

"The school and the girls would like to thank the Bangalow community for getting behind our fundraising efforts.

"Their support made it possible for us to make the trip."
