ANDREW De Silva has won the latest series of Australia's Got Talent.

After illness forced him to leave chart-topping '90s RNB group CDB, the singer/songwriter auditioned for the Channel Seven talent show to try and resurrect his music dreams.

Viewers connected with De Silva's emotional audition and thanks to their votes he was able to share his catalogue of original songs on the show.

Last night he proved victorious with a symbolic welcome back to the industry, topping the public vote and triumphing over Tasmanian country band, The Wolfe Brothers.

"It was just an amazing moment.  This is all a dream… I feel amazing," De Silva said.

"It's just such a beautiful way for it to come to an end and in a way it's actually a new beginning."

The father-of-two went home from the grand final decider with $250,000 to relaunch his music career.
