A meal worth $1 million
MACARONI and cheese is a basic meal.
However, the humble dish has netted a Sunshine Coast couple just over $1 million.
The Coast couple, who wish to remain anonymous, shared Saturday's Gold Lotto first division prize.
But it may never have happened if the man had not taken his wife's macaroni and cheese to his in-laws' home on Saturday. “While he was there, my mother gave him some money and told him to buy an entry in Saturday night's Gold Lotto draw for the family,” his wife said.
“He went to a Golden Casket shop but it was closed. He was too scared to get on the wrong side of his mother-in-law, so he went searching for another and ended up at the Nextra Sunshine Plaza.”
The $1,036,166.86 will be split between the couple and their in-laws.
